She is the one who says, “So What!”
when you make a monumental mistake.
“Nobody is perfect,” she says. “Shrug it off and get a good night’s rest.
We begin again at daybreak.”
So you say you failed that big exam?
You tried but couldn’t pull through.
She says, “So What!”
“Again you will try. There is no giving in.
Tomorrow you will start anew.”
You say you lost your job and have to pay the bills?
She says, “So What!”
“Look at yourself Woman, you’ve got so many skills!
Don’t let this hold your greatness back.
Suit up, buckle down, and prepare for your comeback!”
So you say you had a bad childhood?
You didn’t get loved like you should.
She says, “So What!”
“The past is the past, time to move forward.
Your future holds the love and respect deserved at long last.”
Whatever the reason,
Whatever the excuse,
The internal voices causing emotional abuse,
or maybe it’s the family, friends, or foes,
through conversations or simply by association,
the doors of opportunity, they close.
Confidence remains calmly seated,
her posture emanating strength,
a look of resolve in her eye.
Knowing the impossibility of being defeated
she defiantly smiles and says, “So What!” every time.
She is the warrior inside
pushing you to be nothing less than all you are worth.
Knowing you have the power to change your world,
the strength to confront any enemy,
the courage to step into unknown territory,
and the perseverance through excuses of many.
So if you want to say you are ugly, or that you are fat,
maybe you say you are dumb, or simply can’t do that,
Or think it’s too scary and don’t have what it takes,
Confidence is there to say, “So What! YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT!”
